THE GOLF CHANNEL; Tues, 2/1; "School Of Golf Show", Martin Hall, Ibis Golf Club, W. Palm Beach, Fla:
Mr. Hall's description of a proper left-hand grip position, (for righties), is incorrect.
In using that flat, yardstick image, where the back of the hand faces parallel with the body lines, (hips, knees, etc.), he is NOT describing a normal, "neutral" grip position, but a "weak" one.
Holding the club as he suggests, will have the thumb and forefinger crease pointing straight up the body, (the typical weak position), and the thumb itself on top of the club; (except for putting, and occasional chipping, neither thumb is ever directly on top of the grip).
This was Mr. Hall's second show on the Golf Channel; so far, his "good instruction" batting average is about 230; if he continues to dispense good information sometimes, and bad at other times, this show will not last very long.
